Cycle Bristol CTC Autumn Bunkhouse Weekend 1st - 3rd Nov 2019

Please notice, this is for Cycling UK members only.

At Cranmore Tower Bunkhouse. The bunkhouse is near Shepton Mallet and has 2 bunk rooms 6 beds each and an attached lodge with 6 beds. There is also an adjoining tea room where you can purchase tea, coffee and cakes and a resident warden so if you decide to make your own way down you can arrive any time 10am to late. From Bristol the bunkhouse is approx 25-30 miles depending on route.

Cost is £18 per person per night which includes bedding. Towels can be hired for £2. Evening meal Soup, Jacket potatoes, cheese, beans, bread £8, Breakfast Cereal, Toast, Pastries, boiled egg £5. Use of kitchen which includes tea/coffee/milk. There are two pubs within a 20 minute walk of the bunkhouse or of course you can bring your own refreshments.

This is a great area for cycling with rides across the Somerset levels, Cranborne Chase with Kingston Lacy house (National Trust), Stourhead Gardens (National Trust) and Shaftsbury in reach as is the East Somerset Railway at Cranmore.

If you fancy it you can climb the towers 184 steps and take in the fantastic views of the surrounding countryside for £2.

The plan would be Friday ride down approx 40 miles, start points at Fishponds and Bristol probably across the Mendips, ride south Saturday approx 40-50 miles, ride back Sunday across Somerset Levels approx 40 miles.
